Goal: To enhance the children’s picture ebook experience

Define

Why we care?

  • Kids Are Playing With Screens More Than Traditional Toys.

  • Today’s children are interacting with touch-screen devices more than ever, providing Kindle with new opportunities to engage and teach children the love of reading.

  • On Kindle, picture books make up about 3% of top selling books. However, most children’s picture books on tablets are not well designed and have the same features as adults’ eBooks.

Frustrations in Today’s Kindle children’s eBook reading experience 

Problems:

  • Children’s book cover has minimal impact.

  • Participants had a hard time to find and dismiss pop up.

  • Pop up covers the art work.

  • Chrome and navigation appearing by each single tapping is distracting.

  • No reward for children when they finish a book.

Insights:

  • Children need to touch the book. 

  • Illustration is the most important element for children. 

  • Kids have a short attention span.

There are many Children book apps in the market, each of them has their unique features.

iBook as the biggest competitor to Amazon, it has some great features

  • Pitching zoom feature to see the whole story

  • Do not have pop feature, so the art never get block

MeeGenius is one of the top 1 app for Children’s books. It brings some great features to attract Children reading those books.

  • highlight each word to draw students' attention to learn.

  • Transparent background to keep the art reveal

  • Read on your own or follow along with expert narration

 Playtales award-winning bookstore app that offers the interactive storybooks for children.

  • Animation features on the book.

  • Stories available in different languages.

  • Read stories can without internet

    Encourage customers to read more books from Kindle store.
